Kiradex on iPhone Duo

Built for the folding iPhone from its first build, with the iOS 27.1 SDK. Closed, half open, open and turned, the dex, the scanner and the town fit the display they are on. The device above is the same phone: put it in each pose.

Field device

Drag it to turn it any way round. It works. Drag the card to spin it. “Dex” goes back to every set, English and Japanese. Half open, it stands like a book. Drag it to turn it; open it the rest of the way to use it.

Four poses

Closed, Book,
open, turned

What the app does in each pose, from its own notes. Every one was walked on the iPhone Duo simulator before 1.0 went in. Press a pose to put the device above in it.

  1. Pose 1 of 4 Outer display

    No. 01

    Closed

Outer display · full bleed · bars on the trailing edge

Closed, the app runs on the outer display: the scanner, the Dex, a card's inspector, the town edge to edge with its controls kept clear of the camera. Nothing waits for the phone to open.

  2. Pose 2 of 4 Half open

    No. 02

    Book

Half open · the fold respected

Standing half open like a book, the Dex's set walls lay out in columns that respect the fold. In the town you stand on the wider side of it, and the text box keeps to that side, read again as the hinge moves.

  3. Pose 3 of 4 Inner display

    No. 03

    Open

Inner display · a wall and its inspector

Open flat, a set is a wall of cards in even columns. Pick one and the screen splits: the wall on one side, the card's inspector on the other. The town fills the inner display edge to edge, the camera locked to you, every pixel of its art a whole number of the display's.

  4. Pose 4 of 4 On its side

    No. 04

    Turned

Open, on its side · the phone's layout

Open and turned on its side, the phone takes a phone's layout: the wall first, the inspector pushed over it, the bars horizontal. The card you had selected stays selected as the phone turns, opens or closes.

Mid-session

Unfold it while it runs

Open the phone while the app is running and the world re-centres on the wide display without a reload, and the device's opening replays on the inner display: the lid swinging open on its hinge, the LCD booting, the camera going in through the screen. Close it and the outer display carries on where you were. A card you were holding stays held.

Built with the iOS 27.1 SDK

Kiradex 1.0.1 is built with the iOS 27.1 SDK, the first with the Duo's layout: the arrangement that splits on the fold, the hinge's events, and the regions the system reserves for the camera and the side rail, which the app reads on every pass. The bars go vertical on the trailing edge, as iOS 27.1 lays them out. There is no orientation lock and no device check anywhere in the layout; everything is sized from the space it is given. On iOS 27.0 the same app runs without the fold.

Questions

Do I need an iPhone Duo?
No. Kiradex runs on any iPhone with iOS 27 or later. On an iPhone Duo it uses both displays and the fold.
Does it work with the phone closed?
Yes. Closed, the app runs on the outer display: the scanner, the Dex, a card's inspector and the town, with the controls kept clear of the camera.
What happens when I open the phone mid-session?
The app re-centres on the wide display without reloading, the device's opening replays, and the card you were holding stays held. Close the phone and the outer display carries on.
Is the Duo layout in the App Store build?
Yes. Kiradex 1.0.1, on the App Store since October 15, 2026, is built with the iOS 27.1 SDK, which carries the Duo's layout. The iPhone Duo itself ships October 23, 2026, on iOS 27.1.
Is there an iPad version?
No. Kiradex is for iPhone only.
